ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – St. Louis city police are on the scene of a fatal accident that killed pedestrian Monday evening on the city’s northside. The accident occurred just before 6 pm at North Kingshighway and Vernon Avenue.
Police said the victim was crossing the street when he was hit by a car headed northbound. They said he flew in the air and landed on the windshield of a car in the southbound lane.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the southbound vehicle stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the police. Police are searching for the northbound vehicle and driver.
Accident reconstruction is looking for any surveillance cameras in the area that may help them locate the driver and vehicle.
The victim’s family said he was probably on his way to his Monday night church meeting when he was hit.
