(KTVI) – The cost of airline tickets is taking off. The price to board an airliner is rising for the fourth straight year.
The average domestic round trip ticket including tax was more than $363 last year. Airfares have rising nearly 12 percent since their low in 2009 during the “Great Recession.”
A wave of consolidations has left us with four major U.S. airlines — American, Delta, Southwest and United.
The lack of competition is allowing them to push fare and fee hikes.
