FULTON, MO (KTVI)- The Ameren Missouri Callaway Energy Center is back online after being shut down for 23 days. On July 26, a small fire in a turbine building led to the plant being shut down.
A spark was found to have occurred along an electrical fault in the plant’s main power line. The plant’s nuclear reactor was not involved in the incident.
The power plant was shut down while an investigation was conducted. Inspections revealed that major equipment replacements were not necessary.
The Callaway Energy Center generates about 20 percent of the electricity supplied to Ameren Missouri’s 1.2 million customers.
