Ameren restores most power in Illinois after tornadoes

(KTVI) – Ameren Illinois field crews have restored lost power to 94 percent of all customers, a spokesperson says.

As of Tuesday morning, about 7,500 customers were still without power in the hardest hit areas in Central Illinois.

The company estimates residents in the Washington area still in the dark will havepower restored by the end of the day.

At the peak of the outage, more than 148,000 Ameren Illinois customers were without power.
