ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – Ameren Missouri started work Friday morning on a solar power plant in St. Charles County.

The power company is building the largest investor-owned solar energy center in Missouri, where 19,000 solar panels will be installed on 20 acres of land in O’Fallon.

The project will cost $10-20 million and should create jobs for 50-70 construction workers.

Ameren hopes to have it up and running before the end of the year.
