PINCKNEYVILLE, Ill. (AP) – A long line of tractors will soon be rolling into the Perry County Fairgrounds for the 53rd American Thresherman Association’s Steam, Gas and Threshing Show.
The (Carbondale) Southern Illinoisan reports that the five-day celebration of farm heritage begins in Pinckneyville on Wednesday with a draft horse pull. Other events include tractor pulls, an antique auto show and demonstrations of farm technology.
Association President Josh Giacomo says organizers are trying to show people the history of farming and how things were years ago.
One of the demonstrations will involve having someone thresh a load of barley from a hops farm in Murphysboro that will then be used to make beer. And Giacomo says they may use an antique machine to thresh the barley.
