With the first two games of the Missouri Valley Conference, businesses are preparing for not only a big weekend here in downtown St. Louis, but a big month.

Downtown hotels and businesses will be very busy this weekend with basketball fans from all over the Midwest making their way to St. Louis for the Missouri Valley Conference basketball tournament.

Some restaurants on Washington Avenue have already seen increased business for the first night Thursday.

But Friday, when 8 teams play in four games throughout the course of the day, that will be the busiest day of the weekend for restaurants.

The Missouri Valley tournament is just the first of many events bringing business to downtown this month.

The NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament, the NCAA Wrestling Championships and the regional bracket of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament will be held in St. Louis, which means business for these hotels and restaurants downtown should be consistently busy all March.

This is an even bigger weekend downtown with the motocross races taking place on Saturday at the Edward Jones Dome in addition to the Missouri Valley tournament.
