The Ballwin Police Department posted to Facebook that they would like to thank the community for coming together around this officer. The post has over 1,000 “likes.”
Instead of a #TBT we wanted to do a #ThankYouThursday to the community. The support that Officer Flamion and the rest of the Ballwin Police Department has received has been incredible. From the blue ribbons lining the streets to the lemonade stands throughout the area, it has been amazing. We want the community to know that we are truly thankful for everything that has been done over the past week. It is an honor to serve in a community as strong as Ballwin. #BallwinStrong
Children spent last weekend doing their part to help Ballwin Police Officer Mike Flamion. Tori, CJ, and Mckenzie Moore and their friends put on a lemonade stand to help refresh first responders. It was held at the Dierbergs at Clarkson and Clayton. The store donated the supplies. The kids managed to raise $4,000 before running out of lemonade. People continued to donate, even without refreshments.
Proceeds will go to Responder Rescue, which provides assistance to area first responders, who have been injured, become ill, or suffered a traumatic situation. Responder Rescue is working with Officer Flamion’s family.
Antonio Taylor, 31, has been charged in the shooting. He is charged with first-degree assault of a law enforcement officer, armed criminal action, and being a felon in possession of a weapon.
Police have not commented about a motive for the attack. Investigators say he was on parole for federal weapons violations. His record include weapons offenses in Missouri and California and a stolen car in Oklahoma.
Officer Flamion has been employed with the Ballwin Police Department for two years.
The City of Ballwin has a population of nearly 30,000. It is located in west St. Louis County, along Manchester Road west of Highway 141.
A GoFundMe account has been set up for Officer Flamion.
