ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – A sour note is being heard in the St. Louis music scene.  For at least the fifth time in less than a year a band that came to perform here, lost most if not all its gear to thieves.  The group, “Two Cow Garage” is from Columbus, Ohio.

Thieves broke into their van at a downtown hotel garage and stole as much as $12,000 worth of instruments and equipment.

When musicians across the country heard about the theft they began donating instruments and equipment to the band so it can finish its tour.  Band member David Murphy said if the thefts continue in St. Louis it could hurt the city’s music future.  Murphy said, “Everyone does talk there are warnings make sure you lock up tight if you’re going to St. Louis stuff like that I hate for that to be the case.”

The group played in The Grove Tuesday night at the club The Demo.  Brandon Cavanagh owns the club. He agrees the thefts need to come to stop.  Cavanagh said, “If it continues bands will decided not to come here which isn’t good for the city it isn’t good for the bands it isn’t good for business owners it’s bad all around.”

Someone began a Go Fund Me page for the group. Members say they are very humbled by all the help.
