Black bears spotted in St. Clair, MO

ST. CLAIR, MO (KTVI)- Black bears are being sighted in St. Clair, MO, which is in Franklin County. On Saturday morning, FOX 2 received photos from viewer Darrell Roe of a black bear and cub near a shed off of Virginia Mines Road and Parkway.  Also Saturday morning, Facebook user Bart Coleman shared these photos.

According to the Missouri Department of Conservation, black bears can be found more often south of the Missouri River, but are considered rare in the state. They are the only species of bear found in Missouri and their population is making a comeback.
