ST. LOUIS, MO ( KTVI) - Frigid temperatures didn't keep many from participating in events and activities around the St. Louis area.  People bundled up anyway and braved the cold weather, saying cold winters are nothing new.

"It's beautiful. I would never pass up a day like this," said Mike Micotto.

The firewood was burning as the music filled the air at Steinberg Ice Rink in Forest Park . Skaters say they love the cold weather.

"You have to ice skate to get in the mood. I do anyway, love it," said Micotto.

Jogging and running are many other ways some stayed active.

A little cold couldn't stop locals residents from flocking to the St. Louis Zoo for the Annual Christmas Breakfast with Santa. Lines were heavy at times to get that perfect photo and to tell Santa what they wanted for Christmas.

And workers at Ted Drewes Christmas trees and frozen custard say the colder temperatures turn on the Christmas spirit.
