FARMINGTON, MO (KTVI) – A big day Saturday, April 10th for Camp Hope, a non-profit retreat for wounded veterans on 170 wooded acres just outside of Farmington, Missouri. More than 200 people, including FOX 2’s Tom O’Neal, attended the dedication ceremonies for the newly-completed 3,000-square-foot lodge. It complements the three handicapped-accessible cabins that can house three to four veterans each.
Camp Hope was started in 2007 by Mike White and his wife, Galia following the death of their son, Pfc Christopher Neal White, 23, in Iraq. Wounded veterans from all over the country come to spend a week or two enjoying a respite in the country, deer or turkey hunting or just the camaraderie of others who understand what they’ve been through. The veterans are flown in for free and the camp is free.
