(CNN) — An Italian judge ruled Wednesday that the captain of a cruise ship involved in a deadly accident last year be tried, Italy’s state-run ANSA news agency reported.
Francesco Schettino, the captain of the Costa Concordia, will be tried for dereliction of duty and several manslaughter charges in an incident that left 32 people dead.
The ruling came in a preliminary hearing in the city of Grosseto.
