UNIVERSITY CITY, MO (KTVI
University City Police report it happened in other jurisdictions as well, including Crestwood.
One University City resident on Amherst got it twice. The back window of the SUV parked in her driveway was shattered, along with the rear driver’s side window of a vehicle parked along the curb in front of her house.
At least two vehicles were struck on nearby Wellington.
Police Lt. Fredrick Lemons said they are searching for homeowners’ surveillance or security video that might show who is responsible. Police believe the windows were shot out with either a bb or pellet gun.
Joe Weber got the rear window shot out of his 1996 Toyota Land Cruiser. He didn’t realize it at the time, but he heard it happen.
“Last night about 2:30 a.m.” said Weber, Sunday evening. “I heard a noise outside and it sounded like the alarm on my Land Cruiser here. I decided it really wasn't anything and went back to bed. But at 8 o'clock this morning the police knocked on my door.”
Another resident reported hearing the pop, pop, pop of a pellet gun about 2:45 am.
Police say they have no reports of anything being stolen out of any of the vehicles.
