MURPHYSBORO, IL (AP) – A Carbondale man is accused of drunkenly causing a wreck that killed a bicyclist.
Jackson County prosecutors have charged 22-year-old Seth Loyd with reckless homicide and aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol.
Authorities say 33-year-old Matthew Dierker was riding his bicycle last Friday when Loyd’s vehicle allegedly hit him.
Dierker was taken to a Carbondale hospital before being transferred to one in St. Louis, where he died the next day.
Online court records don’t show whether Loyd has an attorney. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 11.
