ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – St. Louis police have recovered the car stolen from a former Tuskegee Airman Sunday morning moments after he was robbed in the Central West End. The World War II veteran was a member of the first African-American aviators to serve in the U. S. Armed Forces. He was going to visit his daughter when the crimes occurred back to back. First he was robbed of money. When he followed the robber, he lost track of him near Walton Avenue and Page. That’s where he stopped his 2012 maroon Honda Accord and asked two men for help. Instead of being good Samaritans, the bad guys stole the veteran’s car leaving him stranded. Police recovered the vehicle Tuesday in the 1200 block of Bayard behind a vacant house. It was damaged, but drivable. Police are looking for three suspects. CrimeStoppers is offering a reward for information in connection with the crimes.
