"It's a fun way for us to engage with our fans and get folks out from behind their computers and smartphones and promote person to person and more importantly fan to bird contact," says /Cardinals Public Relations Director Ron Watermon.
There was plenty of beak to head moments as fans lined up for some freebies.
"My daughter and I, Claire, we come down every Friday wherever Fredbird is," says Doug Aly. "It's kind of a Daddy/daughter thing I guess and we always enjoy seeing Fredbird and hanging out."
"She not so much today?" states Patrick Clark.
"Yeah," says Aly. "Today she had a little tear kind of realizing he's a big scary. But we enjoy seeing him at the game."
Everybody was game for free stuff as we got in on the action rewarding redbird fans with some 11 Perk Alert prizes.
"We post on Facebook early in the morning," says Watermon. "We tell fans where Fredbird is going to be. We give away free items, usually its tickets and other things."
For those who lined up for lagers and the behind the scenes Anhueser Busch tour, today was all about taking it all in and beating the heat indoors.
"This is everyone's favorite stop on tour I think," says St. Louis Brewery Tour Manager Kendra Quart. "We welcome more than 350,000 visitors per year and every one of them comes through this room to have a cold beer on us."
Birds, beers and free tickets make for not a bad Facebook Friday.
