ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – Charges have been filed in connection to a fatal crash that took two innocent lives on March 24.

The victims, Antwon Jones, 40, and Scarlett Rose Jones, 2 months, were killed at the intersection of McRee and S. Vandeventer Avenues in south St. Louis. Their car was stopped at a red light Eric Wolf smashed into them, according to a St. Louis Metropolitan Police investigation.

Wolf, 29, faces 2 counts of involuntary manslaughter and 2 counts of armed criminal action. Court documents allege Wolf was intoxicated and driving 70 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone.

St. Louis police and prosecutors have focused on keeping drunk drivers off the road. They now seek warrants for blood samples in cases where suspected drunk drivers refuse to cooperate. Court records show Wolf refused to give a sample, so a warrant was sought. The result was a blood alcohol reading of .120. The legal limit in Missouri is .08.

The victims lived on Schilling Place in south St. Louis. Some neighbors were relieved charges were filed, but still saddened over the tragedy.

“It’s just really sad for a life to be lost like that in an instant,” said neighbor Jackie Harris.

“People need to be more responsible,” said Edward Morrehead. “It’s so unnecessary. It could be avoided with people just being responsible.”
