ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - Federal agents shut down several locations of a tax-preparation business during a surprise investigation. The Internal Revenue Service confirmed agents with their Criminal Investigation Division entered six locations of the Tax King tax service starting at 8:30 Friday morning.

Special Agent John Nunez said officers wrapped up their investigation by 12:30 p.m.  He said agents closed the offices during an intense search.  Nunez would not say what officers were looking for, but agents left the downtown location with several boxes full of documents.  One agent carried a long hard case made by Pelican.  But, he would not say what was in the case.

There were no arrests. Nunez would not rule out the possibility of future arrests.

Nunez said the following offices were searched.

Downtown St. Louis: Olive & 18th Street

Midtown: 900 North Grand

North St. Louis: 4318 North Grand, 1315 North Kingshighway, 4541 North Kingshighway, 4300 Natural Bridge
