ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-- The Chelsea soccer club arrived in St. Louis Monday night after a long flight.

The club will play Manchester City at Busch Stadium Thursday.

Soccer fans at Amsterdam's Tavern in South St. Louis said they were "extremely excited" about the upcoming soccer match.

"I am going to the game and can't wait," Steve Grass said. "It's a rare opportunity to see this in St. Louis."

Grass also said he hopes the excitement surrounding the game leads to St. Louis getting a professional soccer team.

"These are the big boys, so it will show St. Louis what soccer is all about," Grass said. "It could be big for this city."

Chelsea arrived at Lambert Airport around 7 p.m.

Lambert officials said the team exited the airport through a private exit.
Manchester City is expected to arrive Tuesday or early Wednesday.

It will be the first professional soccer match at Busch Stadium.

Stadium officials have been working for several days to get the field ready.
The English clubs will also play at Yankee Stadium this weekend.
