CHICAGO (AP) _ Chicago police are investigating whether a man shot multiple times on the city’s South Side was filming video that captured the attack.

Officer Ana Pacheco said Friday that the department “suspects” a video posted on social media is “connected” to a Thursday shooting that left a 31-year-old man in critical condition. Pacheco says the man was hit multiple times when an offender approached, opened fire and then fled.

The video, shot at the location of Thursday’s shooting, shows a man holding a camera toward himself, talking and smiling. The man glances to the side, the camera falls and shots are heard. A person holding a gun is then seen firing multiple shots while the man is out of sight.

Pacheco says detectives are working on confirming the video’s authenticity.
