Boy critically injured in Freeburg, Ill. accident passes away

FREEBURG, Ill. – Authorities tell Fox 2/KPLR 11 that a male child critically injured in a Tuesday afternoon accident has died.

The 14-year-old boy was killed while riding his bike around 3 pm in the 600 block of North State Street when he was struck by an SUV being driven by a teenager.

The boy was rushed to a local hospital for treatment, where he later died from his injuries.

Several police agencies were called to the scene for accident reconstruction.

Police told Fox 2/KPLR 11 that the driver of the vehicle struck the boy stayed on scene and was cooperating with authorities.
