BELLEVILLE, IL (KPLR) – Tuesday the Law and Graces pantry, a ministry of Faith Baptist Church was set to handout Christmas gifts to children in need.  But a thief has delayed the handout that was scheduled for today.

The ministry says the theft happened overnight when thief used a small window to gain access the building.

The pantry had invited 50 low income families to come and pick out toys for their children today, but that has now been postponed.

Officials say the burglar cut themselves on some broken glass from the window, leaving some blood in a hallway.  They think the thief knows the layout of the building, as they headed straight for the office where the safe is located.  But a security alarm was set-off, scaring off thief, but not before taking some presents.

Volunteers are still inventory what was taken, but the pantry is working to replace the toys taken.

The Christmas party has been rescheduled to this Friday at the pantry.
