CLAYTON, MO (KTVI) – Tuesday night the Clayton board of alderman voted to approve placing two tax ballots before the city’s voters on April 8th. The ballot will consist of two tax increase proposals, one a bond issue that will cost a homeowner of a $500,000 home an extra $230 per year, and a sales tax increase of half a percent.

The sales tax increase would bring Clayton’s sales tax to just over 8%.

Money from the tax increases will go to paying for city services, such as emergency services, economic development, street improvements and a new ice rink in Shaw Park.
