ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)– The day after a special court hearing ended that could decide his fate, Reggie Clemons` family spoke out.

Clemons is on death row… convicted of raping and killing the Kerry sisters.
Robin and Julie Kerry were raped then pushed to their deaths from the Old Chain of Rocks Bridge in 1991.

Clemons confessed and was sentenced to death in 1993.
But he has long proclaimed his innocence saying St. Louis police beat a confession out of him.
During the three day hearing, Clemons testified that he didn`t kill the Kerry sisters.

But he took the Fifth Amendment some 30 times when prosecutors pressed him on questions about the crimes.

Clemons` father, Reynolds Thomas, supports that move saying it`s a strategy to reserve potential evidence for any new trial.

The judge will eventually submit a report to the Missouri Supreme Court which granted the hearing.

Those justices will eventually decide Clemons fate.
That may not happen until next year.
