(CNN) - Florida neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman is now jailed on second degree murder charges in the shooting death of unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin.
The arrest follows weeks of protests in cities across the country.

It also follows heated criticism that Zimmerman would have been arrested immediately if Martin, an African American, had been white.

Comedian Bill Cosby is now weighing in on the controversy and says the case is more complex than just race.

Here are his thoughts as he talks to CNN's Candy Crowley:

CROWLEY: So you saw more a gun issue than a race issue?

CROSBY: How are you going to solve a race issue when it becomes; he said, she said or he said, he said. And the other question is what is solved by saying he is a racist, that's why he shot the boy, what solves that? This and what is he doing with it, and who taught him and told him how to behave with this.

You can watch Candy Crowley's full interview with Bill Cosby on State of the Union Sunday at 9am and 12 noon Eastern.
