FERGUSON, MO (KTVI)- There were prayers and protests but no violence one night after two police officers were shot in Ferguson. St. Louis County Police officials say there were no arrests in the latest round of demonstrations. Concrete barricades are blocking part of the main driveway entrance to the Ferguson Police Department. However, those barricades did not stop people from gathering in the general area. Around 8p.m. Thursday night, there was a multi-faith candlelight vigil near the police department here.
Community leaders and demonstrators prayed for the St. Louis County police officer and the Webster Groves officer who were shot outside the police department early Thursday morning. They also talked about non-violent ways to achieve change and justice. After the vigil, members of that group joined others in demonstrations outside the police department.
County police estimate there were about 70 protesters. There were also county police and Missouri Highway Patrol troopers. Those two agencies have taken over security in the area. The protesters dispersed around 11:30p.m.
Authorities did take three people in for questioning in connection to the shooting of the two officers. No charges have been filed.
Meanwhile, the officers are continuing to recover after being released from the hospital.
