ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – A Pevely man may be in the market for a new vehicle after a large piece of concrete fell from a building and smashed his car.

Clifford Alcorn said he and his fiancé bought the car last year after he graduated college.

He had parked the vehicle in front of an empty building in the 500 block of Olive Street. His fiancé works in a nearby residential building and had taken the car to get to and from her job. Alcorn said his fiancé was about to get off her shift when the incident occurred.

A large piece of the façade detached and fell onto the vehicle. No one was injured.

Alcorn said he’s been in touch with the construction company working on the building and a spokesman told him they’d contact their insurers.

It’s unclear if the vehicle is a total loss, but Alcorn said he and his fiancé still had several payments left.
