CHESTERFIELD, MO (KTVI)– It adds a special touch to any event. But the photo booth operator hired for several weddings around town, never showed up. The newlyweds are “focused” on warning others. They’re upset because a lot of planning and money was devoted to this once in a lifetime event. And the missing photo booths were intended to make people smile.
Matt and Laura Miller were married October 11, 2013. They have great memories of their wedding day. After months of planning, only one glitch, something Laura says she discovered when they arrived at the reception. “I was like where`s the photo booth? And she said they never came,” she stated.
The same thing happened to another bride. Her name is Laura Grace. “We walked in. We were really excited. We started to tell our guests hi and we slowly started to look and realized he was nowhere to be found,” she said.
Both women saw a Groupon ad for ‘Foto Sailor.’ But they didn`t pay through the website. They contacted the owner directly and made their payment. They each have copies of a ‘blank’ contract. Something that offers no place for the vendor to sign, committing to the service according to Laura Miller. “It`s not something we sat down and signed together. He had just emailed it to me.”
That could be a red flag. Owner Jamie Forsyth hasn`t responded to our request for comment. We went to an address in Arnold listed with the Better Business Bureau. No one answered the door. The phone number on the ad is disconnected. That saddens Laura Grace.
“It`s supposed to be the most important day of your life. It was very disappointing. A lot of our guests were disappointed,” she said.
Photo booths are popular according to the owners of this reputable Chesterfield photo booth business. Maggie Hase and Courtney Biggs own “2 Chics & a Photobooth”. They actually helped a bride who paid Foto Sailor according to Hase. “A day before, their bridal planner called from Excellence Events and said the company had not shown, returned any phone calls. That they were basically out of a photo booth the day before their wedding. Luckily we were available.”
Courtney Biggs says memories are lost when people do business like Foto Sailor. “We`re taking the pictures that are more of a fun picture. They`re just adding to those brides` day. It`s adding the extra little pop of flavor but giving them a memory that they`re going to keep forever.”
Be sure you check with the Better Business Bureau before you hire vendors for your wedding. Make sure you get a signed contract and if at all possible pay for you services with a credit card.
