County police searching for armed suspect in home invasion

NORTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (KTVI) – St. Louis County Police are searching for a robbery suspect who they consider is armed and dangerous.  The suspect is wanted in connection to a home break in and a shootout with police.

It was an extremely frightening experience at about 1:20 am Wednesday morning. When an 83-year-old woman who lives alone in the Castle Point Neighborhood of North St. Louis County heard a window break, she grabbed her gun and then saw an intruder and she fired a warning shot.

County police officers arriving on scene saw the saw the suspect with handgun running away from the home.  The suspect fired at shot at officers, who returned fire.  Its not known if they hit the suspect. He then ran into some woods behind the homes, several officers on foot with dogs, along with a county police helicopter searched the woods but could not find him.  Police say the woman was not physically hurt and no officers were wounded.
