ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO (KTVI)- The University of Missouri-Saint Louis campus is the site of a rescue mission. A kitten is stuck in a drain pipe near the West Avenue parking garage. Humane Society of Missouri officials, UMSL grounds crews and campus police, and Roto Rooter volunteers were all on site Friday evening.
They been trying to save the kitten since a woman heard it meowing in the drain Friday morning. Grounds crews tracked the sound to the fairly narrow drain pipe. A larger hole was then dug for Humane Society rescuers to work.
However, the kitten appears to be 20 feet down inside the pipe, making it very difficult to use traditional rescue tools. MSD crews showed up, but determined it wasn't their drain pipe. Now, the Humane Society is starting over to try to save the kitten.
