Washington (CNN) — A top independent conservative group is going up with their second straight television commercial that slams President Barack Obama over the nation’s unemployment rate.

The ad, by Crossroads GPS, is their second spot to run on TV since last Friday’s release by the Labor Department of a disappointing June jobs report.

The group, which was co-founded by Karl Rove, says the commercial started running Thursday in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio and Virginia, and is part of an $8 million dollar ad buy.

The spot starts with a clip of a reporter describing this year’s second quarter as the weakest job-adding quarter in the past two years.

Then the ad’s narrator says: “It wasn’t supposed to be this way. Over three years with crushing unemployment. American manufacturing shrinking again. President Obama’s plan: Spend more. He’s added four billion in debt every day. The economy’s slowing but our debt keeps growing. Tell him for real job growth, cut the debt. Support the new majority agenda at new majority agenda dot org.”

Crossroads GPS is the sister organization to American Crossroads, the independent super PAC that backs GOP causes and candidates. Crossroads GPS has spent tens of millions of dollars to run advocacy ads in the race for the White House that are critical of the president and in support of GOP lawmakers and candidates in crucial Senate contests.

A top Democrat responded to the Crossroads GPS ad.

“False attacks from Mitt Romney’s allies are meant to divert from the fact that in business and politics, Romney’s record was increasing debt and failure on jobs. As Governor, Romney increased state debt to the highest in the country and saw Massachusetts fall to 47th in jobs. As CEO, Romney drowned companies in debt and made millions while firing American workers,” Bill Burton, the co-founder of Priorities USA, a pro-Obama super PAC, told CNN.
