CREVE COEUR, MO (KTVI) - De Smet Jesuit High School is notifying parents about the death of a student. Senior Adrian Bowman had just announced his intent to play football for Lindenwood University.

School officials opened campus chapel Sunday night, making counselors available to students and families.  The school has not released information to the cause of death.

FOX2 and KPLR11 were at the high school this past Thursday as a number of De Smet players announced their letters of intent.

One of his teammates posted a tweet with a photo, Andy Bauer wrote, a picture I’ll cherish forever.  Lost a great teammate, friend and brother.  Gonna miss that smile.

Head football coach Pat Mahoney said Bowman had an uphill fight as a player. He was undersized, but never let that get in his way. Mahoney told us  he'll be telling his team to move forward without fear, because that's what Adrian did.

The school is offering counselors for students and staff. De Smet is also giving parents and staff warning signs to look for, if students are having difficult time in the days ahead.
