The Kane County’s state’s attorney’s office says the sentence was imposed Thursday after 52-year-old Lamelle T. Johnson pleaded guilty to possession with intent to deliver.
Prosecutors say officers during the raid spotted the Carpentersville man in his bedroom shoving the cocaine in his mouth. As one officer approached him, he threw it at the officer.
Prosecutors say Johnson had previous convictions, including in 1990 on a cocaine delivery charge. He also had a 2012 DUI conviction.
Johnson could end up serving closer to five years behind bars if he accumulates credit for good behavior while in prison.
