Despite big freshman class, enrollment down slightly at SEMO

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) _ Freshman enrollment is up at Southeast Missouri State University, but total enrollment is down ever so slightly.

The Southeast Missourian reports that total enrollment for the fall semester is 11,978, down by nine students from fall 2015. Enrollment figures include the main campus in Cape Girardeau as well as satellite campuses in Sikeston, Malden and Kennett.

Undergraduate enrollment is up slightly due mostly to a 9.1 percent increase in the beginning freshman class. But graduate enrollment dropped 8.2 percent.
