ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and Humane Society of Missouri’s Animal Cruelty Task Force are asking for the public’s help in locating the person responsible for shooting a woman’s dog Monday afternoon.
The shooting occurred around 5 p.m. near the intersection of Harney and Thrush avenues, in the Walnut Park East neighborhood.
The owner said her two-year-old German shepherd mix, named Cutie, had wandered from the yard. The owner heard a gunshot a short time later and found Cutie bleeding in the alley.
Police escorted Cutie and the owner to HSMO’s Animal Medical Center of Mid-America, where the owner surrendered the animal.
Veterinarians determined Cutie had been shot once in the right shoulder area. Doctors are worried they may have to amputate her front right leg as a result.
The Humane Society of Missouri is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the HSMO at 314-647-4400.
