O’FALLON, MO (KTVI)-One man is dead and another is in police custody after a domestic dispute turns deadly overnight. It happened around 1:00am at a trailer home on Pinto Circle in the Rolling Meadows Mobile Home Park in O'Fallon, MO.
According to St. Charles County police, a 24-year-old man and his 21-year-old ex-fiancé had dinner Friday evening to discuss their two-year-old son. That discussion continued at the man’s home after dinner.
The woman’s current boyfriend, William McMahan, 26, of Foley, MO, knew about the dinner, but when he couldn’t reach the woman later in the night he went to the 24-year-old’s home. He went into the home and the two men then got into a fight. The 24-year-old eventually got a handgun and told McMahan to leave.
McMahan did not leave and, after more fighting, the 24-year-old man eventually shot him in the chest. He died later at a hospital.
The 24-year-old was taken into custody and is cooperating with police. The woman was not injured. The two-year-old was not at the home.
Missouri is a castle doctrine state. The “stand-your-ground” law justifies the use of deadly force when victims reasonably believe their lives to be in danger. That may be a factor in the investigation of this shooting.
