Donors give to 106-year-old who danced upon meeting Obama

WASHINGTON (AP) _ Two weeks after a 106-year-old woman’s unbridled excitement upon meeting President Barack Obama went viral, friends of the Washington centenarian have set up a fundraising page for those who asked about donating to one of the Internet’s newest stars.

The Washington Post reports that the Web page on went live Tuesday afternoon with the goal of raising $50,000 for. As of Wednesday afternoon, 125 donors had given $5,480.

McLaurin brought smiles to countless people online after she broke into a jig when meeting the president and first lady during a Black History Month reception at the White House on Feb. 18.

The donation page says the funds will go toward helping her living expenses and ensuring McLaurin can remain active in her community.
