Driver overdoses on heroin and crashes, striking family in St. Ann

ST. ANN, MO (KTVI)- A crash on St. Charles Rock Road at Ashby Tuesday evening has seriously injured a family trying to cross the street.  According to St. Ann Police, around 3:45pm the driver of a Mazda who had overdosed on heroin flatlined, losing control of the car. The vehicle went up on the curb where it struck the 27-year-old father, 26-year-old mother, and the stroller holding a two year old.

The child was thrown from the stroller and suffered serious head injuries.  The mother also suffered head injuries. They were rushed to the hospital but their exact conditions are unknown.

Emergency crews used a medication called naloxone (Narcan) to reverse the effects of the overdose in the driver. He was revived and is in police custody.
