Earth City business expanding and adding more jobs

EARTH CITY, MO (KTVI) – Good economic news for St. Louis County.  Spectrum Brands is expanding its headquarters in Earth City. Missouri Governor Jay Nixon was on hand for the announcement that the company will invest more than one million dollars in its headquarters and add 45 new jobs.

Spectrum Brands employs more than 560 workers in the St. Louis area.  The company is a global supplier of pet products and a major U.S. supplier of home and garden products.

Nixon said, “in today’s global economy literally folks we could be standing in any of the countries that any of the brands made and run through spectrum or sold or made. A hundred plus countries, but we’re here.”

Governor Nixon said employers in Missouri created more than 44,000 new jobs last year.
