EAST ST. LOUIS, IL. (KTVI) - The Rev. Dorris Davis has been the helper to so many.  Now he needs help himself.  His shelter has been broken into on several occasions.  Thieves have broke windows, kicked in doors and stole copper pipes to the heating and cooling system.

The Helping Hand Shelter has no air conditioning or heat.

"Well you know I can't stop because of that, I've got too much to do", says Rev. Davis.

And the work continues on for the area's needy in a broken down busted building.

"This building may not look like much but it's a lot when you don't have anything", says Davis.

The Helping Hand Shelter continues to fall deeper into disrepair every day.  And the Reverend continues to work and pray for a miracle to save his shelter.

"I love helping people but right now I need help.  And I need help bad", says Davis.
