EAST ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – Starting Saturday and for the next five Saturday’s parents in East St. Louis can sign children and teens from ages 8-18 to a new program aimed at stop violence in the city.

Jackie Joyner-Kersee, the former Olympian meet with volunteers to lend support to the “40 Days of Non-Violence”. The program is aimed at keeping children and teens active with serving breakfast, school band performances, athletic skills training, tennis, golf and teaching life skills.

You can still sign up your kids through the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Center, East St. Louis city hall and the East St. Louis Public Schools. The program runs with week-day events, and school bus transportation.
