Boston, MA.-A new study shows eating a lot of red meat may shorten your life.  Harvard researchers tested more than 120,000 people over 28 years; they say if you eat a three ounce serving of red meat every day, your risk of an early death increases by 12 percent.  If you’re daily diet includes processed meat, like hot dogs or bacon that number jumps to 20 percent.

Replacing red meat with fish, poultry, beans or nuts lowers the risk.  The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association disputes the findings, saying lifestyle, not food, affects mortality rates.
