ELLISVILLE, MO (KTVI) - A St. Louis County circuit judge is refusing to block Monday's scheduled impeachment hearing for Ellisville mayor Adam Paul.
The hearing is scheduled on the eve of the city elections. The mayor had hoped to push the hearing back until it could be heard by the new city council.
Friday afternoon, the mayor's attorney filed a motion with the Court of Appeals and says he may go all the way to the Missouri Supreme Court trying to postpone the hearing, claiming the current council is biased against the mayor.
"f you want to impeach the mayor, fine try to impeach the mayor and try to remove him from office," said Chet Pleban, the mayor`s attorney. "I don`t mind from an evidentiary point of view trying that case, but I want to try it to an unbiased tryer of fact. I want to try it to somebody that has an open mind, and this body currently clearly does not."
If the mayor's continuing attempts to block the hearing fail, it will be held Monday night at 6:00 P.M. at Ellisville Elementary School.
