CHICAGO (WGN) – Some workers at the Cook County Morgue got caught slacking off during a surprise inspection.
A report by the Inspector General says three workers, on the overnight shift, were found sleeping or watching martial arts movies on county computers.
Two employees were suspended, but the third employee has not been disciplined.
Investigators say they also found thousands of documents that were supposed to be entered into a computer, but they never were.
The county says it has added a supervisor to the overnight shift since then.
Morgue operations had come under scrutiny after photos from employees revealed problems with overcrowding of remains.
