FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, IL (KTVI) – Fairview Heights police have arrested 34-year-old Vernon L. Wells for the sexual assault of a woman in his apartment. The assault happened on Monday, March 30 at 6 am on Belle Drive.
Police say they were called to the residence and contacted a 46-year-old woman who alleged she had been restrained, strangled and sexually assaulted by an acquaintance at the apartment.
Police arrested Wells at the apartment without incident, and he’s been charged with criminal sexual assault, aggravated battery and unlawful restraint. He’s being held at the St. Clair County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
