ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-- A close call for a Wildwood family during last week's rain delay game at Busch Stadium. A bolt crashed down from the double-deck bridge on Interstate 64/40, the pieces barely missing a family.
The Stallion family went out for a day of Cardinals fun and had a close encounter that could've done some major damage.
The family was down at Busch Stadium for last Wednesday’s rain delay game against the Giants. While waiting around for the game to start they walked under the double stack I-64 Bridge to a parking lot when they heard a crashing sound. That's when they saw the chunks of metal hit the ground. Flora Stallion captured the moment on her cell phone. She says the incident was a little too close for comfort and that MoDOT should have more inspections, especially with the traffic and possibility of World Series games downtown.
MoDOT responded to the incident by saying:
"Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We will be working to address issues like this with our contractor and inspectors to ensure this type of situation does not happen again."
The inspections are set to start as soon as possible.
