ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - A Ballwin officer shot and paralyzed by a suspect is headed to the airport. Family, friends and fellow officers showed up to see him off. West County Firefighters saluted the procession from a bridge.

Officer Michael Flamion was placed on a Charter Air Ambulance at Spirit of St Louis Airport to taken to a hospital in Colorado. Local doctors believed he was stabilized enough to make the trip. Police are not releasing the name of the hospital -- but say it is a hospital in Colorado that specializes in spinal cord injures.

Officer Flamion is still on a ventilator and feeding tube. Police say Antonio Taylor shot the Officer from behind last month after a traffic stop. Taylor faces three felony charges, including possession of a weapon as a convicted felon.

Taylor's public defenders argued their client is not a flight risk and that the bond amount initially set was already out of his financial reach.

The judge granted the motion.

Although Taylor was not in court today himself, he is expected to appear September 12th when preliminary trail hearings begin.
