ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - A FOX 2 reporter decided to pay it forward after she got four free tickets to the NHL's Winter Classic game at Busch stadium.

Katherine Hessel writes, "Right before the game a nice gentleman from Bridgestone came up to me and handed me these four tickets, saying his clients couldn't make it. My photographer and I couldn't go to the game so we decided to give them away. We saw a family of four watching the game through the fence and surprised them with the tickets!! They all cried they were so happy!"

The family who received Katherine Hessel's tickets to the Winter Classic wanted to express their gratitude.  Robyn Gilbert posted this message to Facebook.

"We wanted to take a moment to sincerely thank Fox2Now and Katherine Hessel for today's Winter Classic tickets. You have no idea how incredibly grateful we are that you and Bridgestone Tires gave us the opportunity to attend this once in a lifetime event. The excitement and joy in our kid's faces was tear jerking for us as parents. We had so much fun and will cherish these memories for a lifetime. Thanks again for being so kind and thoughtful - you guys are the best!!!!"
