COLLINSVILLE, IL (KTVI) - The search continues for the driver who hit and killed a young man in Collinsville. His body was found Wednesday night several days after he went missing.

The body of 22-year-old Anthony Connors was found face down in a water filled ditch along busy Belt Line Road in Collinsville, near Route 157.

Collinsville police say the body had been there for days, but the ditch was so deep it wasn't visible from the road.

It was an off duty police officer from another department who made the discovery while jogging early Wednesday night.

Connors was last seen leaving a Burger King that sits just 200 yards from where his body was found.

His family is pleading with the public to help find the driver responsible for Connor's death.

Police say there are reports that a bumper or other car parts were left lying near the scene early Sunday and someone may have picked them up, possible for scrape.

If you have any information about this hit and run you are urged to call Collinsville police.
